Cost of Study and Living

Cost of living: Students must have approximately US$1200 to US$1500 per year in order to live in Kazakhstan. The living cost is reasonable and varies depending on the lifestyle. 

Cost of study: The tuition fee ranges between US$ 200 to US$ 4000 per year. The tuition fee varies depending on the programme, institution and study level. Contact the respective higher education institution in Kazakhstan to know about the tuition fees. 

Student Accommodation

Following accommodation options are available for students:

University hostels: International pupils can stay in university hostels. Most of the universities in Kazakhstan provides hostel facilities to students.

Rent a flat: Students can go for this option as well. Flats/apartments are easily available, but the price varies depending on the number of rooms, facilities and location. 

Transportation

In Kazakhstan, there are many ways to get in and around in the country. One can travel by taxi, trains, buses, metro, trolleybuses or tram.  The transport system is well developed.  Tickets can be taken from the yellow kiosks at stops or from the conductor in bus, tram, or trolleybus.

Students can obtain a student travel pass on government transport from their institution. This pass offers discount on travel in the country. 

International student card: This card is issued after gaining admittance in the university in Kazakhstan. Pupils who obtain this card are entitled to get 30% concession on air tickets. 

Medical Service

Many of the state higher education institutions in Kazakhstan offer free medical service in student’s hospitals. At the private and state hospitals, students are required to pay a fee.

Student Visa

International students who wish to study in Kazakhstan require student visa. Student visa is given for studies, internship, etc. 

Student Visa Application Procedure

International students must apply for the visa at the Kazakh embassy/consulate in their country of residence. Student must fill application form and submit it with the necessary documentation to the nearest Kazakhstan embassy/consulate. Student visa is issued with permission of the immigration police upon application of educational institution in Kazakhstan.

Visa Extension

Student visa can be extended by the consular service offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, and by the migration police departments of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Visa is extended only if the candidate has required document that demonstrates the need to extend the stay in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
